"Truth is like an uncut diamond. Until it is skillfully cut and meticulously polished, its sparkling nature might not be visible." 1
Taizan Maezumi Roshi
In the introduction course at Mind Ground, you’ll gradually learn the basic principles of Zen meditation (zazen). You’ll receive personal guidance from an experienced teacher and you’re encouraged to ask questions and share your experiences.
Introductory Course
Zen meditation, or zazen, simply means sitting and being present with whatever arises at that moment in time. In practice, this can be challenging: finding the right posture and learning to relate to your thoughts and emotions requires dedication and perseverance.
In this eight-part introductory course, you’ll learn the foundations of Zen meditation. You’ll discover how to cultivate a posture that is both strong and receptive—physically and mentally—and how to relate to whatever arises. You’ll practice breathing, sitting posture, and other techniques that support your meditation.
After completing the course, you’ll be able to continue your practice independently—at home or within an ongoing group.
